Karaite Korner - New Moon Report
November 1998
Part 1

The New Moon was seen from Jerusalem by Devorah and Nehemia Gordon on Friday November 20, 1998. The moon was first sighted at 16:52 by Devorah and at 16:55 by Nehemia. The moon was still visible at 17:12 when we left the observation point. The sun had already set when we arrived at the observation point at 16:32. Sunset was calculated for 16:33 although it should be born in mind that there are mountains on the horizon which aren't accounted for in the calculations.

On Friday 20 November 1998:

• Sunset was observed from Ramat Gan at 16:38 and from Ashdod by Magdi at 16:39.

• The new moon was sighted from Ramla by Yuda Cohen at 16:50.

• The New Moon was sighted by Ya'akov Braham from Ashdod at 16:52.

• The New Moon was sighted by Magdi in Ashdod at 16:53.

• The New Moon was sighted from Ramat Gan at 16:55.

• The New Moon was sighted from Ofaqim with the naked eye at 16:59.
